LOCATION: Sheehan High School for classroom study
Quest Diagnostic Laboratory for Externship
Phlebotomists are responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients for laboratory analysis. Students will be trained in the following:
- Basic Anatomy and Physiology
- Infection Control
- Laboratory testing and departmental functioning
- Proper venipuncture and capillary draw techniques
- Proper use of equipment
- Knowledge of tubes, additives and common tests
- Resume Writing 101
Requirement to Participate: High School Diploma/GED/or College Transcript. Minimum CASAS reading assessment score of 239
NCCT National Exam: To be eligible for the NCCT test, you must pass the course with a 75% or better average and pass all the clinical skills. The NCCT National Exam is taken after graduation and is MANDATORY if you receive funds from Workforce Alliance.
