LOCATION:                   Sheehan High School for classroom study

                                     Quest Diagnostic Laboratory for Externship

Phlebotomists are responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients for laboratory analysis. Students will be trained in the following:

  • Basic Anatomy and Physiology
  • Infection Control
  • Laboratory testing and departmental functioning
  • Proper venipuncture and capillary draw techniques
  • Proper use of equipment
  • Knowledge of tubes, additives and common tests
  • Resume Writing 101

Requirement to Participate: High School Deploma/GED/or College Transcript

NCCT National Exam:   To be eligible for the NCCT test, you must pass the course with a 75% or better average and pass all the clinical skills. The NCCT National Exam is taken after graduation and is MANDATORY if you receive funds from Workforce Alliance.
